Default Question about PvE and PvP

Hello all, I have another question.

I know that you can create a PvE character or PvP character and I was just wondering, can the PvE characters eventually be used in PvP? I'd like to progress through the PvE campaigns and then do some PvPing, but I'm kind of confused.

If they can PvP, how exactly do you do it? Is it only open at a certain level?

Yes, your PvE chars can do PvP(the reverse is not true though). There are some low lvl PvP arenas dotted around the PvE map, but mainly its done on the Battle Isles which are reachable from the main port cities in all campaigns. You only have to get there, finish some quick tutorial-ish reqs and you can do any of the PvP battles a PvP-only char can do. And while there is no lvl req for PvP, its best if you are lvl 20(with all your 200 attribute points) before you go, unless you like handicapping yourself.

Thanks for the info.

Its also worth noting that in order to be as good as a pvp toon, all your weps stats will have to be max wep's customized if your not playing a caster, sundering is fail. And the more health the better.

yes, tho it is important to note that pve charas r harder to gear and spec up
(harder as in takes more time and money)

if u want to get into pvp...theres no harm to make a new pvp chara
(i highly recommend keepin at least 1 slot open for pvp charas)

the good thing bout pvp charas is that they r expendable
u can create and delete as many times as u want
(often refered to as "rolling" and "re-rolling")

they will all have the same available skills and items to use as long as they r unlocked
(make sure to use skill templates and equipment templates for faster loading)

of course, if u get serious into pvp
u'll want to consider creating a permanent pvp chara so u can spend reward points on him to buy pvp weapons and armour
(pvp weapons/armour r purely for cosmetics...as they r jus new skins)

In addition to what everyone else said (except the sundering is fail bit, that isn't true), keep in mind that you won't be good at PvP the first time you try, even if you're confident in PvE. They're completely different environments, and you will get smashed numerous times. Don't worry though, keep at it and you'll get better.

That bit about any level isnt always true. I know for a fact if you try to enter some arenas under level 20 it will pop up a red sentence saying you can't.

I expect this. I've been around online gaming for long enough to know people will destroy you at first. Then a little less. Then hopefully you'll be equal.

I know when I first started playing console FPS I was getting destroyed by my friends (about a year ago). Then I got used to it and started doing well. I've played lots of PvE MMOs, but never really got into the PvP aspects.

The wonderful thing about GW PvP is that if you use PvP only characters, you can't be out geared by someone who's been playing the game three years longer than you. You unlock the skills and equipment that you need over a few weeks (or buy the unlocks) and then it's all up to you.

With a little practice, you can be holding your own against emote tossing nerds with uber PvP titles that call you "n00b". After you kill them.

Unless you're like me, of course, and have the reflexes and field awareness of a dead sheep... :P
